It's About Family First
Like many things in life, long term care is in a continual state of change. The delivery of long term care 30 years ago has little resemblance to today's care environment. And what is common today may be replaced 30 years from now with care delivery vehicles not yet dreamed of.
The one constant, however, is the participation of family members. Family will typically provide the initial care. When family can no longer provide care, they will most likely decide who provides your care or where that care is delivered.
The following chart is taken from Medicare's official website and will link you [offsite] to descriptions of the various care settings you may encounter.
